If you are a primary school that would like your students to get the opportunity to learn Spanish or French, please encourage them to come and join the fun in my after school program. Alternatively, I can run Language lessons as part of your Curriculum too. Your students will learn the basics of the language through games, interactive play, songs, craft and other activities that teach them to speak Spanish and French while having fun. Why learn a foreign language? Research has shown that very young children are more than capable of learning two different languages simultaneously. Those who are exposed to a second language in their early years are more likely than older children to attain a native-like pronunciation and fluency in that language. It is also recognised that learning a second language in early childhood boosts brain power, helps literacy skills and enhances cultural development which in turn enhances future education and career opportunities. GOAL to build skills in a new language through games, storytelling, art and craft activities, traditional dances, songs and drama. OUTCOME Students will be able to interact comfortably with native-speakers. Converse, sing songs, play games, take part in small role-plays according to their age level and individual talents and ability in the target language. Children will: - Be exposed to sounds and rhythms of the language.
- Learn basic vocabulary related to themselves and their surroundings.
- Understand and produce short phrases.
- Be able to use the language for basic communication needs.
When and where? The club takes place once a week for an hour between 3.30 and 4.30 all through the academic year. It will have a limited number of places, an average of 15 students. Other available times and reduced courses per term will be considered. I will request a classroom or any available space. Information about the equipment and resources available will be appreciated. I will encourage the students to learn the foreign language and make sure that the children feel secure and comfortable in the environment. But most importantly I want your students to have FUN!
